Not getting enough sleep? You’re not the only one. In January 2015 Newsweek claimed that on average people in the U.S. are sleeping little more than six hours a night. Moreover, millennials are “shaping up to be the most sleepless generation yet,” largely due to modern technology and modern working patterns. 20. Drink tart cherry juice

A study published in the Journal of Medicinal Food in 2010 showed consuming tart cherry juice had “modest beneficial effects on sleep in older adults with insomnia.” This is down to cherries containing the amino acid tryptophan, which eventually converts into melatonin, the hormone that controls sleep patterns.

19. Eat bananas

Your poor sleeping patterns could be affected by a deficiency in magnesium. To counter this, eat a post-dinner snack of magnesium-rich food, such as bananas. What’s more, bananas will help your muscles to relax and allow you a more tranquil sleep.
